7 members entered this tournament organised by Domenico Napolitan, held at the Dunkirk Community Centre this weekend. Domenico aims to hold several more of these next year.

There were two sections, each 6 rounds, 15” + 5’ increments, and we won both sections!

Mike B stormed to victory in the Open section with 5.6 points. In the final round, facing an opponent half a point behind him, he demonstrated his superior strategic talent, neutralising his opponent’s attack before systematically destroying his opponent’s position.

Drag scored 3.5 points, including a win against former member Oliver Graham after losing an exchange. He also managed to draw another game after losing a knight early on.

John Huthwaite scored 2 points and had a very tough draw including 3 much stronger opponents.

Marian came joint 1st in the U1600 section. He won his first 5 games, including against Ben, but was unable to win his final game, falling to a king side attack.

Graham scored 4 points after losing to Marshall in round one. Marshall ended up on 3.5 points.

Ben scored an encouraging 3 points in his first weekend event.
