There were two victories by Gambit members on Sat 30 August.

Drag and Mark popped up to Sheffield for the Darnall Rapidplay U1900 Major.

After playing soundly to win his first 5 games Drag entered round 6 a point clear, then relaxed too much and lost his final game, yet still came joint 1st.

Mark began slowly with 1 point from 3 games but finished strongly against his 3 strongest opponents of the day to finish on 3.5 points.

There was a Blitz event in Nottingham that evening, run by a London based event organiser.

Florian won the event a point clear with 7 points from 8 games, including a win over WB’s Frank Richmond. In the final two rounds he beat his Gambit clubmates Vinod and Marian.

Vinod finished on 5 points while Marian scored 4.5, including a fine win over the joint 2nd placed player who was rated 1892
